The Plant Topper was made because my son Joseph at 10-months of age had developed a
fascination for a large outdoor plant that we brought inside for the winter, digging and eating the soil. After I don't know how many cleanups and who knows what he was ingesting, I often wondered why he was growing so fast. He was eating fertilized soil!
So to prevent him from gaining access to the soil, I placed a standard shelf board across the top of the planter. Well, it worked. Not being able to readily get his curious fingers into the soil any longer, he quickly lost interest and we reclaimed our living space. Then as time went by, because it sat next to the couch, I started putting my coffee cup on it; then my remote; next my books. I found the table space to be very handy, convenient and flexible. So I developed a more fitting table, The Plant Topper, eliminating the need for a large cocktail table, which was a great benefit in a small living space.
